My Story

I have an engineer husband (who loves woodworking!), two kids, and a small fancy dog. I love the mountains and hate the beach, but currently live close to neither. I’m a big fan of RV travel and margaritas. I have a background in biomedical research (with a newly launched, but completely unrelated, academic editing business), and I adore cross-stitching overly large and complex projects. I’m excited to turn my lifelong hobby into a business! Enjoy!

My workspace

Sometimes I work at the counter, but usually I set up a spot on the couch with carefully-arranged pillows; a project box with all the thread, embroidery scissors, and needles I’ll need for that project; my pattern (I keep track of my place with very carefully-arranged magnets…HEAVEN FORBID ANYONE MOVES THE MAGNETS); my old-lady glasses; iPad/AirPods for whatever show I’m streaming in the background; and my project, held in place with an adjustable frame stand (which works just as well on my lap as it does on the counter top).

My small fancy dog

Avery is often a part of my workspace in at least some capacity. If my scroll frame is in the way, she’ll lie down on the couch as close as she can get. Does she sometimes SIGH REALLY LOUDLY to make sure that I know that she knows that my cross-stitch stuff is in the way of her lap time? Yes, she does.

Completed van Gogh

Here I am just minutes after completing this van Gogh project. After over 1,000 hours of work and 62,000 stitches, I was quite pleased with how it turned out (and to be done with it)!

Although I always have a cross-stitch project in progress—either for personal use or that I plan to list for sale—you can always contact me if you’re interested in a custom request. Feel free to browse through my portfolio to see previously completed works!
